2006 Keynote Speakers

Below are our speakers for the 2006 Session.

 

U.S. REPRESENTATIVE KENNY HULSHOF
Saturday, June 17, 2006 (7:30 p.m. - 8:45 p.m.)

Following Opening Night Ceremonies of the 67th session of Missouri Boys State, U.S. Representative Kenny Hulshof from Missouri’s 9th District will deliver the keynote address to the Boys State general assembly. Congressman Hulshof will discuss the hot topics in Congress and his work on various legislation effecting Missourians. Following his prepared remarks Congressman Hulshof will hold a question and answer session.

     
 

MISSOURI ATTORNEY GENERAL JAY NIXON
Sunday, June 18, 2006 (7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.)

Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon will deliver the keynote address at a special assembly on Monday evening in Hendricks Hall. Attorney General Nixon is an outstanding supporter of the Boys State program and is widely considered a strong candidate for Governor in 2008. He will hold a question and answer session following his prepared remarks.

     
 

FORMER U.S. ATTORNEY GENERAL JOHN ASHCROFT
Tuesday, June 20, 2006 (7:15 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.)

One of Missouri’s most successful public servants, former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft will accept the 18th Annual George W. Lehr Memorial Speakers Chair on Tuesday night at Hendricks Hall. A great supporter of Missouri Boys State, Ashcroft is a former U.S. Senator, Governor, Attorney General and Auditor from Springfield, Missouri. Following his prepared remarks he will hold a question and answer session.

     
 

MISSOURI SECRETARY OF STATE ROBIN CARNAHAN
Thursday, June 21, 2006 (1:15 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.)

Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan will announce and certify the statewide election results and address the citizens at the Boys State general assembly in the CMSU Multipurpose Building.  Secretary of State Carnahan will also take part in the Boys State group photo session at the Multipurpose Building.

 

     
 

MISSOURI GOVERNOR MATT BLUNT
Thursday, June 22, 2006

Missouri Governor Matt Blunt will deliver the keynote address and swear-in the newly elected state officials at the Joint Session of the Boys State House and Senate on Thursday evening at Hendricks Hall. Governor Blunt is a former Missouri Boys Stater and great friend of the program.

     
 

FEDERAL JUDGE DUANE BENTON
Thursday, June 22, 2006 (8:30 p.m. - 9:45 p.m.)

U.S. Court of Appeals (8th Circuit) Judge Duane Benton will deliver the keynote address and swear-in the newly elected state officials at the Joint Session of the BoysState House and Senate on Thursday evening at Hendricks Hall. Judge Benton, a great friend to the Boys State program and member of The American Legion, will offer his best advice to participants of Boys State drawn from his experiences as MO Director of Revenue, MO Supreme Court Justice, little league baseball coach and his short time on the federal bench. Judge Benton will swear-in the new MBS Governor and all new MBS constitutional officers and Supreme Court justices.

     
 

WHITE HOUSE FELLOW AND NAVY SEAL ERIC GREITENS
Friday, June 23, 2006 (7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.)

White House Fellow, Navy Seal Commander and Rhodes Scholar Eric Greitens will deliver the final keynote address of the week on Friday evening at Hendricks Hall. One of the most accomplished and Boys Staters in recent memory, Greitens will share his extraordinary career with Boys Staters in a Special Assembly. Greitens is currently serving in the Department of Housing and Urban Development during his White House Fellowship. Following his prepared remarks he will hold a question and answer session with Boys State citizens.
