2007 Keynote Speakers

Below are our speakers for the 2007 Session.

 

U.S. MARINE CORPS COMMANDANT JAMES T. CONWAY
Saturday, June 16, 2007 (7:30 p.m. - 8:45 p.m.)

Following Opening Night Ceremonies of the 68th session of Missouri Boys State, U.S. Marine Corps Commandant General James T. Conway will deliver the keynote address to the Boys State general assembly. General Conway will discuss various aspects of the Marine Corps involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan. Following his prepared remarks General Conway will hold a question and answer session.

     
 

MISSOURI ATTORNEY GENERAL JAY NIXON
Sunday, June 17, 2007 (7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.)

Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon will deliver the keynote address at a special assembly on Monday evening in Hendricks Hall. Attorney General Nixon is an outstanding supporter of the Boys State program and is widely considered a strong candidate for Governor in 2008. He will hold a question and answer session following his prepared remarks.

     
 

FORMER PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE GENERAL WESLEY T. CLARK
Monday, June 18, 2007 (7:15 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.)

Retired U.S. Army Four-Star General and former Presidential Candidate Wesley T.Clark will accept the 19th Annual George W. Lehr Memorial Speakers Chair on Monday night at Hendricks Hall. General Clark will discuss his experiences as Supreme Allied Commander of U.S. Forces in Europe during the war in Kosovo and his bid for the White House in 2004. Following his prepared remarks, General Clark will hold a question and answer session.

     
 

EDUCATOR AND AUTHOR JAMES AMPS III
Tuesday, June 19, 2007 (7:15 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.)

Educator, workshop leader, consultant and author James Amps III will deliver the keynote address in Hendricks Hall on Tuesday night. Known as an international keynote speaker, he inspires his audiences to turn their obstacles into opportunities, problems into possibilities and temporary defeats into permanent victories. Following his prepared remarks he will hold a question and answer session.

 

     
 

MISSOURI STATE AUDITOR SUSAN MONTEE
Thursday, June 21, 2007 (1:15 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.)

Missouri State Auditor Susan Montee will announce and certify the statewide election results and address the citizens at the Boys State general assembly in the CMSU Multipurpose Building. Auditor Montee will also take part in the Boys State group photo session at the Multipurpose Building.

     
 

MISSOURI GOVERNOR MATT BLUNT
Thursday, June 21, 2007 (8:30 p.m. - 9:45 p.m.)

Missouri Governor Matt Blunt will deliver the keynote address and swear-in the newly elected state officials at the Joint Session of the Boys State House and Senate on Thursday evening at Hendricks Hall. Governor Blunt is a former Missouri Boys Stater and great friend of the program. Following his prepared remarks, Governor Blunt will swear-in the new MBS Governor and all new MBS constitutional officers and Supreme Court justices.

     
 

WHITE HOUSE FELLOW AND NAVY SEAL COMMANDER ERIC GREITENS
Friday, June 22, 2007 (TBD)

White House Fellow, Navy Seal Commander and Rhodes Scholar Eric Greitens will deliver the final keynote address of the week on Friday evening at Hendricks Hall. One of the most accomplished Boys Staters in recent memory, Greitens will share his extraordinary career with Boys Staters in a Special Assembly. Greitens has just completed his second tour of duty in Iraq. Following his prepared remarks he will hold a question and answer session with Boys State citizens.

     
 

U.S. REPRESENTATIVE KENNY HULSHOF
Friday, June 22, 2007 (7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.)

U.S. Representative Kenny Hulshof from Missouri’s 9th District will deliver the keynote address to the Boys State general assembly. Congressman Hulshof will discuss the hot topics in Congress and his work on various legislation effecting Missourians. Following his prepared remarks Congressman Hulshof will hold a question and answer session.
