Day to Day Activities - Saturday, June 17th

Arrival, Orientation, and Registration

Travelling from locations across Missouri, almost 1000 student leaders arrived at the University of Central Missouri campus this Saturday for the 78th session of the American Legion Boys State of Missouri.

After registration, these young men formed new lasting friendships and connections within their cities and had their first meeting with their city counselors, preparing them for the week ahead.

Recognition and Excitement

The opening assembly allowed the Missouri Boys State staff to encourage the new citizens to invest themselves in boys state, and to expand their horizons and take the mantle of leadership. The Commander of the American Legion and the President of the University of Central Missouri emboldened the citizens to go beyond their comfort zones and fully engage in learning.

Afterwards, the program recognized several members of the staff, awarding 10 and 20 years of service awards.

After the service awards, program staff held a pep rally to set an early high note for the session. Riding on the excitement from the assembly, the citizens began constructing their city political system for the upcoming city elections. The citizen's work soon began to impact their Boys State.

MBS Record

The citizens of Missouri Boys State publish a paper that is delivered to the citizens every morning. Copies of this paper are published here every day for your enjoyment. Today's edition is available here.
