Captain David Smith |
Lieutenant I. David Smith will be promoted to the rank of captain and be designated director of the Human Resources Division, General Headquarters, Jefferson City.
Smith was appointed to the Patrol on January 3, 1983, as a member of the 55th Recruit Class. After graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, his first assignment was to Troop H, Zone 1, Atchison/Holt counties. On November 1, 1987, he transferred to Troop H, Zone 7, Clinton/Daviess/DeKalb counties. He was promoted to corporal and designated assistant zone supervisor of Troop H, Zone 8, Clinton/Daviess/DeKalb counties, on June 1, 1990. Smith was promoted to sergeant on January 1, 1992, and designated zone supervisor of Troop H, Zone 1, Atchison/Holt counties. From February 1, 1993 until June 1, 1998, Smith served as public information and education officer for Troop H, St. Joseph, MO. On June 1, 1998, Smith was promoted to lieutenant and assigned to Troop A, Lee’s Summit.
Smith was born in Lathrop, MO. He graduated from Lathrop High School, in 1978. He holds both an associate’s of science degree and bachelor’s of science degree from Missouri Western State College. Capt. Smith is married to Vonda K. (Larkin) of Lexington, MO. He has two sons, Jeffrey and Blake.
