OFFICIAL STATEMENT REGARDING COVID-19 (Coronavirus)
May 8, 2020
The American Legion Missouri Boys State, Inc. has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic since its outbreak. Due to ongoing concerns related to the pandemic, Boys State will not proceed as scheduled on June 13-20, 2020. The safety and well-being of Missouri Boys State citizens and staff is our paramount concern and postponing the session is the responsible step to take. Boys State orientation meetings leading up to the June session also will not occur as scheduled.
Although we are postponing Boys State, we are not giving up. Missouri Boys State leadership is actively working to develop an alternative plan providing some form of Boys State later in 2020. Any program scheduled for later in the year will comply with recommendations from public health officials and local authorities.
We will notify citizens and their families about any alternative plan no later than Friday, June 12. In the meantime, please know that we are doing everything possible to make the Boys State experience available to the class of 2021.
To stay up to date on further developments, be sure to look for updates here and follow us on social media:
We greatly appreciate your understanding and patience during these challenging times. For those of you directly or indirectly affected by the virus, our thoughts are with you and your family.
Please stay healthy and safe.
