"I had no idea what I was in for, having had no prior interest in the political process at any level. But on the day the votes were tallied and the announcement was made that I won the highest executive position in the state I was overwhelmed with joy and excitement. I had a new outlook on what our government officials go through to get where they are."

Primaries for Statewide Office

Today, at Missouri Boys State, the citizens went to the polls to vote on the candidates for State Wide office. This is the beginning of the end of this session of Missouri Boys State, one step closer to completing the entire state wide government. In the afternoon, after the candidates were anncounced, the two parties hosted a Gubernatorial debate. During this time questions were given to the candidates on the topics of interest at this year's Boys State. This evening there was a Joint Party Rally, where the entire Boys State listened to candidates plead their case as to why they should get elected.

Gubernatorial Debate

The recently selected gubernatorial candidates took part in a debate today in front of all of Missouri Boys State. The two candidates used this time to answer questions asked by the Boys State Media. The topics ranged from taxes, viewpoionts on potential laws, and other various issues. The candidates used this time to lay out the ideals and values of their party at the Executive level. The debate was a great success; both candidates doing their best to persuade the citizens to vote for them.

Joint Party Rally

Tonight at the evening assembly, a joint party rally was held in Hendricks Hall. The auditorium was split down the middle: Federalist on one side, Nationalists on the other. The purpose of the rally was to give the candidates of both parties a chance to showcase themselves in front of all of Boys State. Each candidate was given an allotted time slot to give a speech as to why they should get elected to the position they were campaigning for. After the rally, the citizens went back to work on their cities while hopeful State Elected Officials traveled around the campus, convincing citizens to vote for them on an individual level. Tomorrow the 79th Session will decide who will be representing them in the Executive branch of the State.
